Dufftown have completed the signing of midfielder Neil MacDonald from Perthshire junior side Jeanfield Swifts.

The 25 year old has recently moved to the area and, after getting in touch with the Dufftown management team, he has impressed enough in training to be offered a contract.

Co-manager Willie Duncan said: 'Neil has impressed both myself and Rab in recent weeks and when he featured against Inverness City I thought he was one of our better players.  He has a good left foot and will hopefully help add some balance to the side.'

MacDonald, who has also played for Scone Thistle, goes straight into the Dufftown squad for tomorrow's trip to Fraserburgh United.

Dufftown have been dealt a blow with the news that experienced midfielder Mark Taylor has been forced to retire from the game.

The 37 year old was substituted at half time in a match against Hillhead in January complaining that he was feeling unwell.  Subsequent medical tests have found that Mark has a faulty heart valve meaning that any form of exercise is extremely dangerous.

Dufftown Football Club Co-Manager Willie Duncan said:  'We are extremely disappointed to be losing Mark but his health has to be his number one priority.  We are hopeful that Mark will be able to assist myself and Rab Mulheron in some sort of coaching capacity in the future but obviously this will need to be agreed with his medical advisers'.

Taylor made ten appearances for Dufftown after joining from Scottish Highland League side Rothes in September 2009, scoring one goal.

Tomorrow's North Region Division One match between Dufftown and Parkvale has, unsurprisingly, been postponed.

Heavy snow has caused huge disruption across Scotland over the last few days and this has meant that the pitch at Westburn Park is unplayable.

A new date has yet to be set for this match to be played on.

Today's match between Bishopmill United and Dufftown at Pinefield has been postponed.

Temperatures have plummeted overnight throughout the North East and a referee's inspection of the Pinefield pitch this morning found that an area of ground in front of a goal-mouth was frozen.

A new date has yet to be arranged for this match to be played on.

Today's North Region Division One match between Dufftown and Inverness City has been given the go ahead to take place.

Match referee Kevin Anderson inspected Westburn Park this morning and decided that the pitch was playable.

The match will kick off at 2.30pm.
