A second minute goal by Peter Fraser was not enough to secure victory for Dufftown against Fochabers in their latest Grill Cup match.
Dufftown manager Paul Lamberton was in the unusual position of being able to name the same starting eleven as which started against Burghead Thistle on Tuesday night.
There was an unusual situation for Dufftown with goalkeeper Andrew Ross having to wear the number 21 shirt due to a colour clash.
Dufftown opened the scoring in the second minute with a goal which, even this early in the season, is surely a candidate for goal of the season. Peter Fraser gathered the ball fully 35 yards out before unleashing a sensational shot which sailed high into Fochabers 'keeper Michael Selby's top right hand corner to give Dufftown a dream start.
Dufftown had started the match well and almost doubled their advantage after 10 minutes. A free kick from Paul Lamberton towards Gary Lamberton saw the ball eventually break to Lee McGregor but the Dufftown midfielder's shot was well saved by visiting 'keeper Selby.
Alan Shearer was to be the instigator of Dufftown's next chance after 15 minutes. Shearer went on a fine dribbling run before finding Stuart Lamberton, the Dufftown captain's shot was blocked by the legs of 'keeper Selby before the ball was cleared to safety.

Dufftown suffered an injury blow after 36 minutes when Alan Shearer had to be replaced. Shearer went off and was replaced by Scott Riddoch. Riddoch took over as Dufftown goalkeeper with Andrew Ross moving from goalkeeper to take Shearer's outfield place.
Riddoch was called into action right on half time as Fochabers almost grabbed the equaliser. A defence splitting pass from Scott Anderson found Steven Stewart in space but his six yard shot was tipped over his own crossbar by 'keeper Riddoch.
Into the second half and a chance for Dufftown after 54 minutes. A foul by Andrew Corbett on Scott Cameron 19 yards from the Fochabers goal saw Dufftown captain Stuart Lamberton step up and strike a free kick which Fochabers 'keeper Selby did well to tip over his crossbar for a corner.
Fochabers were coming more and more into the game and almost equalised on two occasions. Good play by Gary Burchill saw him play a great ball into Stewart Milton who saw his low shot well saved by home 'keeper Riddoch.
Just a couple of moments later Andrew Corbett gained possession before firing in an ambitious long range effort which 'keeper Riddoch palmed and then gathered at the second attempt.
A cross from substitute Alan Gray almost saw Dufftown double their advantage after 65 minutes. Blair McDonald challenged for the ball inside the Fochabers penalty area before the ball broke to Scott Cameron, the Dufftown midfielder's low shot was comfortably saved by Fochabers 'keeper Michael Selby.
Fochabers grabbed the equalising goal with 5 minutes remaining. Andrew Corbett played a superb defensive splitting ball into the path of substitute Keiron Burchill and the Fochabers man did the rest, cooly slotting the ball beyond Scott Riddoch to give his side what was probably a deserved equaliser.
The final whistle went and the Dufftown players were left to rue the chance of a victory being missed especially after being in the lead for so long.
