Dufftown suffered a seven goal reversal in their first pre-season friendly against Scottish Highland League side Nairn County at Westburn Park.
Co-Managers Willie Duncan and Rab Mulheron named new signings Martin Taylor and Stuart Lamberton in the starting eleven while there were also places for local lads Blair McDonald and Kyle Coutts.
Before the match both teams observed a minute's silence in memory of former Dufftown committee member, and long-time supporter, Jim Scott who sadly passed away on June 27.
Nairn started the match in impressive fashion and took the lead after 5 minutes. Impressive duo Craig Campbell and Steven MacKay linked up well and it was the latter who was to guide his close range header beyond home 'keeper Martin Taylor.
Dufftown almost forced an equaliser after 13 minutes. A Daryl McGregor corner kick picked out Stuart Lamberton at the back post but the big central defender's header drifted wide of visiting 'keeper Callum Donaldson's right hand post.
Dufftown were handed a lifeline after 20 minutes. Craig Campbell fired in a 20 yard shot which 'keeper Taylor spilled to the feet of County striker Shaun Kerr. The striker looked certain to score until the home 'keeper appeared to foul him in the penalty box but the loud appeals from the Nairn County players were ignored by referee Richard Riddoch and no penalty was given.
Nairn County only had to wait a further five minutes to get their second goal. A cross from striker Kerr seemed to deceive home defender Kevin Smith and in nipped Craig Campbell who was in acres of space to cooly roll the ball beyond Martin Taylor.
The third Nairn goal was to come after 35 minutes and again it was the MacKay-Campbell combination that was to prove decisive. This time MacKay doing well to cross to Craig Campbell who made no mistake from close range.
New signing Stuart Lamberton almost pulled a goal back for Dufftown with 5 minutes of the half to go. The central defender's 40 yard free-kick dipping just over visiting 'keeper Callum Donaldson's bar.
Into the second half and Nairn dangerman Craig Campbell was to prove his worth and seal his hat-trick with the goal of the game after 50 minutes. There seemed little danger when the ball broke to the midfielder some 25 yards out but his sweetly struck shot arrowed into the top corner of Martin Taylor's net giving the debutant 'keeper no chance.
Just five minutes later and Nairn were to make it 5-0. This time Gregg Main was the creative force and his low cross was expertly side-footed home by striker Shaun Kerr.
Nairn added two more goals in the final six minutes of the match as their fitness began to tell. Once again Steven MacKay was the creator squaring the ball to Shaun Kerr who couldn't miss from close range with six minutes remaining.
The 7th and final goal came in the 89th minute. Nairn substitute Tony Low's persistence paying off as he robbed Dufftown's Kyle Coutts some 25 yards out before advancing to the edge of the penalty box and expertly slotting a low shot beyond the advancing Taylor.
The match ended a short time later and the Dufftown players will be glad that they don't have to face sides of this quality on a regular basis while the Dufftown management will be happy at the effort that their side put into the match.
